What online landscape design projects do you take on?

We’ll design literally everything for the outside of the house. However there may be states in which we can’t create your construction plans, usually for grading or structures. We’ll let you know up front if that’s the case, and recommend someone who can pick up the ball and carry it across the goal line for us. But otherwise, from plantings to pools to pergolas and beyond, if it’s outside the four walls of the house – we can design it.

How are you able to do a project remotely?

Technology is a beautiful thing. Our initial conversation is an online video conference where we can look at photos of the site via screen share and discuss what’s working, what’s not, and where you’re trying to go with your project. I also like it because you get a chance to “meet” me and know who’s doing your design. I know some designers have you fill out a series of surveys and workbooks but that’s bananas. I can’t get to understand your needs if all I do is see which boxes you clicked.

Ideally I build the design off a mix of photos, your survey plat, aerial imagery, and any detailed dimensions I need to get from you or your local contractor. Review meetings are also via videoconference, and you’ll receive both mailed and electronic copies of your plans.

Will you work with our contractor?

Absolutely. Because my background is in the industry, building and installing these projects, your contractor will quickly go from “oh crap an online designer?” to “wow this is awesome!” We provide everything from conceptual drawings to construction details and shop drawings. As an online landscape designer my job is to remove uncertainty, and that’s what I do.
